Welcome to this week’s dispatch from the lesbian internet, a mid-week news roundup from Paging Dr. Lesbian. If you like this type of thing, subscribe.
Last week was Bisexual Awareness Week. Cheers! (If you missed it, I wrote about The Bisexual in last Sunday’s newsletter). This produced some great memes, as well as people celebrating by watching the sacred text of bisexuality, which of course is The Mummy (1999). Most importantly, bicon and comedian Meg Stalter (most recently of the award-winning HBO series Hacks) made a video for Bi Week. Watch below.
Last Wednesday, singer Zolita (roommate and friend of celesbian YouTuber Shannon Beveridge) released the music video for her new song “Somebody I F*cked Once.” It includes lesbian cheerleaders and erotic ceramics. Watch below.
After last week’s revelation that Elvira (AKA Cassandra Peterson) has had a girlfriend for the past 19 years, fans were dying to know what her girlfriend looked like. Readers, our prayers have been answered, and we finally have a picture of them. They are literally glowing, and we obviously stan.
During the second round of the WNBA playoffs, living lesbian legends Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi – called “two of the greatest and most consequential players in WNBA history” by Out Sports – swapped jerseys on the court after playing what could be their last game against each other. Bird, who turns 41 next month, says she is considering retiring. In related news, Bird showed up to the playoff game in an unbelievably cool fit. (See below, and also scroll through to see more fashion from the Seattle Storm).
In hilarious news, Benedetta, Paul Verhoeven’s sexually explicit lesbian nun movie was apparently protested by Catholics in New York ahead of its premiere. Obviously, the New York Film Festival used this as free promo for the film’s release. (Whether or not these protests were promo all along is up to you to decide). In entirely unrelated news, JoJo Siwa and her girlfriend Kylie got a new puppy, to whom they wished a happy Daughter’s Day on Instagram.
That’s all for this week, folks! Make sure to tune back in next time. I will leave you with another photo (perhaps The Photo) in celebration of Bi Awareness Week.
