"Imagine if Barbie was a lesbian…" ooh the movie ALMOST got it by casting Kate McKinnon, but naming that character "Weird Barbie" made me give the movie a bombastic side eye (and I haven't even seen it LMAO). More leading lesbians who are simply characters (uh yes let's reboot MI and re-jig Rebecca Ferguson's alphabet please) is what we're asking for!!! And as much as I ALSO give a bombastic side eye to standoms insisting upon celeb alphabets (Larries gtfo), what I do think was special in the rise of Gaylor was turning a moment in monoculture into a more queer-friendly space, and no longer pushing the theory of Taylor's queerness. Clearly I'm obsessed with pop culture and also appreciate the note you made about really focusing on roots & community this year - something I am deeply committed to. Thanks for your writing as always, happy new year!
