G'day Kira! I've been following LC since the 90s and have all the editions in storage in Australia. Happy to chat about it. I'm a dyke researcher, I deeply appreciate your work and your wisdom. Thank you :)

I remember picking up Lesbian Connection in the late 80s at Charis Books in L5P. If I'm recalling correctly, it was a typewriter-typed out layout that had been photocopied and assembled. Each issue was copied on a different color of paper, so one month might be pink and the next yellow. Later it started adding cover illustrations.

I discovered LC about 2 years ago and I am a subscriber. I came out as a trans woman 8 years ago. I am now 74. My wife and I have been married for 18 years, but we knew each other for maybe 12 years before that. I participate in a weekly women’s chat group and one of the participants mentioned the magazine. I liked the magazine, but the Alison Bechdel strips were also a big draw! I started reading LC with the idea of learning about a culture that was, in some ways, foreign to me. I read Dr. Lesbian and also joined OLOC for the same reason. I’m a retired mechanical engineer and learning about new things is always fascinating to me. However, the difference is learning about something that can have a direct impact on me versus some abstract information. But, one thing that I did find disappointing was the misinformation about trans people in the Letters section a few issues back. Not sure if that seeped in from conservative media or just reflects basic prejudice, but I intend to correct that.

Thanks for sharing! I hope more readers are able to counteract that prejudice.
